Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, how much his Department spent on advertising to encourage people to donate blood in each financial year since 2010-11.

NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) is responsible for the collection, manufacturing and issuing of blood products to the NHS in England. NHSBT collects around 1.5 million blood donations every year to make sure hospitals have the blood they need to treat patients.

The following table sets out NHSBT’s total spend on marketing to encourage people to donate blood in each financial year since 2010-11.
