Question to the Cabinet Office:

To ask the Minister for the Cabinet Office, pursuant to the answer of 29 May 2026 to Question 421 on Independent Football Regulator, for what reason the Prime Minister’s Appointment Unit was consulted on the appointment; and whether No10 special advisers were consulted.

There is an established process whereby the No10 Appointments Unit and No10 Special Advisers are consulted on appointments that are on the published PM interest list. The previous Prime Minister was not consulted on these appointments and had previously recused himself from decisions relating to the Football Governance Act.
