Question to the Department for Education:

To ask the Secretary of State for Education, what estimate she has made of the cost of replacing textbooks and other course materials that schools need to buy as a result of the decision to remove iGCSEs from school league tables.

Our intention to work with awarding organisations to develop a process for reforming Level 1 and 2 qualifications for inclusion in performance tables from 2018 was announced on 24 July. In considering which qualifications to offer, schools will need to take account of resources and costs and the impact this will have on school budgets. It is not possible to estimate the cost in advance of any decisions being made on Level 1 and 2 qualifications being included in performance tables.
