Question to the Cabinet Office:

To ask the Minister for the Cabinet Office, pursuant to the answer of 8 July 2026, to Question 15417, on Cabinet office: Civil Service, whether she has made an assessment of the potential merits of reclassifying the civil service positions in the EU Relations Secretariat as a Reserved Post by Ministers under Section 3.6 or 3.8 of the Civil Service Nationality Rules where special allegiance to the Crown is required.

The Cabinet Office, in conjunction with the relevant employing departments, keeps the security and nationality requirements of all roles under continuous review. This ensures that the classification of these posts remains proportionate and appropriate, effectively balancing the necessity of robust national security protocols with our commitment to maintaining a wide, diverse, and highly skilled talent pool.
