Question to the Department for Work and Pensions:
To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, what recent assessment he has made of the comparative employment outcomes of people in receipt of (a) employment and support allowance and (b) incapacity benefit; and if he will make a statement.
720,000 more people are now being supported to prepare or look for work as a result of the Incapacity Benefit reassessment process.
The structure of Employment and Support Allowance provides much more support than the Incapacity Benefit regime to those who it is reasonable to expect to take steps to return to work.
