Hospices: Pay

Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what assessment he has made of the effect of the NHS pay award on the (a) retention of staff and (b) number of staff being employed at hospices; and if will he make a statement.

No assessment has been made. The National Health Service pay award is based on changes to the Agenda for Change (AfC) contract. Where hospice staff are not employed on an AfC contract remuneration levels are a matter for the hospice concerned. Some hospices have local agreements to match the NHS pay award however this is matter for individual decision.
