Question to the Department for Transport:
To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what information his Department holds on the number of fare types available across the railway network.
There are a range of fare types available to suit the varying needs of passengers. Most commonly used are Anytime, Off-Peak and Super Off-Peak tickets that allow passengers to take any train in specified time periods, season tickets for commuters and Advance tickets that offer low-priced fares when booking ahead on a specific train.
