Question to the Department for Transport:

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, when National Highways plans to end its trial of 60mph speed limits on motorways; and if he will make a statement.

National Highways are in the process of working with the vast amount of data collected from the sections of the motorways with the 60mph speed limit trials to analyse the results and will be publishing the reports in due course. Once the analysis has been concluded, we will determine whether the speed limits are beneficial to remain or not. If they are not beneficial for air quality purposes the speed restrictions will be removed.
