Question to the Ministry of Defence:

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, what estimate he has made of the potential cost to the public purse of (a) establishing and (b) standing up for operations the Global Response Force.

The Global Response Force will complement existing structures already in place, combining extant capabilities to deliver a simplified command structure which is more easily deployable worldwide. There is currently no expectation of additional costs of establishing the Global Response Force, but specific spending decisions beyond 2024-25 will be made in the round at the next Spending Review, as is usual.
