When pharmacists supply ongoing or emergency hormonal contraception, they are required by their contractual arrangements to provide appropriate advice and information to the person to enable them to take their medicines as intended. When providing emergency hormonal contraception, over the counter, pharmacy teams will also have a discussion with an individual, for example, on the most effective method of contraception, safe sex use of condoms and encourage women to consider ongoing contraception.
