Funding for supporting the social care needs of older people with a severe disability is determined by individual local authorities in line with their responsibilities under the Care Act 2014. Individuals with very complex physical disabilities may be eligible for National Health Service continuing healthcare, which would be funded by the relevant clinical commissioning group.

Councils will have access to £240 million extra this year for adult social care and £650 million in 2019/20 overall for social care.
