Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, with reference to the report, Next Steps on the Five Year Forward View, published by NHS England in March 2017, what progress he has made on the objective for an extra 5,000 people to survive their cancer over the following two years.

As survival rates are calculated through patient follow-up at least a year after their diagnosis, cancer survival data is not yet available for patients diagnosed in 2016 and 2017. The Office for National Statistics and Public Health England will publish the 2016 survival data later this year.
