Bus Services: Greater Manchester

Question to the Department for Transport:
To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what power the Mayor of Greater Manchester has to franchise bus services; and whether the Government has provided additional funding to facilitate such franchising.

The Bus Services Act 2017 gave Mayoral Combined Authorities, including Greater Manchester, the powers they need to franchise buses. No additional funding has been provided to Greater Manchester Combined Authority to facilitate such franchising.
