The Government is working to secure world-class free trade agreements that uphold our manifesto commitment to not compromise the UK’s high animal welfare standards. As the Prime Minister reiterated in his open letter to farmers last May, the Government continues to protect UK food standards in free trade agreements and seek to advance international co-operation on animal welfare and to promote high welfare standards globally.
