We remain deeply concerned about allegations of enforced disappearance, torture and mistreatment in detention in Egypt. Ministers and officials continue to raise these issues with the Egyptian authorities in Cairo and London, including concerns over restrictions on freedom of expression. The Prime Minister and I have both raised the importance of protecting democratic space. I did this most recently last week during my visit to Egypt.
