Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, what recent discussions he has has with his counterparts in the Saudi-Emirati-led coalition on military operations in Saada on 9 August.

​The Foreign Secretary spoke to Saudi Foreign Minister Al-Jubeir on 16 August and urged a quick and transparent investigation. On 1 September, the Saudi-led Coalition's Joint Incidents Assessment Team announced the outcome of an investigation into the 9 August incident, its regret and action to address the recommendations of that investigation. We welcome this acknowledgement and these steps.

I spoke to Emirati Deputy Foreign Minister, Dr Gargash, and to Saudi Foreign Minister Al-Jubeir about these matters further on 3 and 4 September respectively. The Saudi Foreign Minister confirmed that the Coalition would implement the recommendations of that investigation.
