Question to the Department for Transport:
To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what estimate he has made of the economic benefit for the (a) North East and (b) UK of UK-based manufacturing of new rolling stock in the last five years.

The UK has a healthy and competitive rolling stock market that continues to deliver valuable benefits for both passengers and industry.
