Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:
To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, pursuant to the Answer of 1 February 2017 to Question 60736 on Analgesics, what the cost to the NHS was of purchasing opioid painkillers in 2016.

The net ingredient cost to the National Health Service of opioid painkillers of items prescribed in the United Kingdom and dispensed in England for 2016 is provided in the following table.
