Ministers and senior officials from the Department take appropriate opportunities to raise the issue of universal healthcare (UHC) in developing nations. Most recently in delivering the United Kingdom national address to the World Health Assembly, in Geneva, my Rt. hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care stressed the importance of universal access to basic healthcare. We will continue to raise this important issue in relevant international fora such as the G7 and G20, and will be engaging in the work led by the Department for International Development to call for greater collective action at the UN high-level meeting on UHC at the United Nations General Assembly in 2019.
