To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what estimate he has made of the saving to the public purse of unpaid carers.

No substantive assessment of the savings to the public purse of unpaid carers has been made. Estimates of the value of unpaid care are frequently based on the cost of providing formal social care services as a direct substitute for unpaid care, and range widely.
