Question to the Cabinet Office:

To ask the Minister for the Cabinet Office, with reference to Every Voice Matters: Building A Democracy That Works For Everyone, published by his Department on 19 December 2017, whether his Department has had recent discussions with the Department for Education on increasing the level of political education in schools for young people in line with the objectives of that document.

The Cabinet Office and Department for Education are working together on the democratic engagement agenda. For example, our Departments are collaborating with the Historical Association in the development of an online secondary schools resource to be launched later this year. The resource is aimed at 13-16 year olds and will raise awareness of UK democratic history and inspire and engage young people in their own democratic choices through case studies.
