Question to the Department for Education:
To ask the Secretary of State for Education, whether she plans to publish guidance for parents on the powers of her Department to intervene when schools do not comply with statutory guidance on school uniform costs.
There are no current plans to publish guidance for parents on the powers of the Department to intervene when schools do not comply with the statutory guidance on the cost of school uniform. The GOV.UK guidance page on school uniforms explains that if someone has a complaint regarding a school’s uniform policy, they should contact the school. Schools must explain clearly on their website how they can be contacted. The guidance advises contacting the Department if someone is not satisfied with how their complaint has been handled.
