The EHRC is an independent arm’s length body that is operationally independent of the Government. Their annual budget is set by the Cabinet Office. The Equality Act 2006 sets out the legal duty for the Secretary of State to lay before Parliament a copy of annual reports and accounts. These outline the performance of the EHRC in the previous financial year and set out how the EHRC has met its commitments detailed in the Commission’s Strategic Plan.

On 21 July 2025, the Secretary of State laid EHRC’s Annual Report and Accounts for the financial year 2024-2025 before parliament and the Government published it on GOV.UK. The EHRC Annual Report and Accounts for 2025-2026 will be laid in Parliament and published on GOV.UK once finalised.
