Question to the Department for Transport:

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, which routes and services in the Wales and Borders rail franchise primarily serve English markets.

The Department is working closely with the Welsh Government and the Wales Office to implement the November 2014 agreement in principle to devolve executive rail franchising functions. This includes work to identify the scope of services in the current Wales and Borders rail franchise that primarily serve English markets and that it is intended will transfer to other Department for Transport franchises.
