Passengers who bought tickets other than Advance tickets for travel from 23 to 27 December 2020 before the announcement in November 2020 of rules on Christmas travel are eligible for a refund, in accordance with the National Rail Conditions of Travel.

Passengers with Advance tickets that were bought before the announcement on 24 November of the former Christmas travel window from 23 to 27 December are not eligible for a refund, however, as announced on 3 December, they are eligible for a fee-free change of journey or, if they bought them from a train operator, they may apply for a Rail Travel Voucher, valid for 12 months.
