We are aware of the Republic of Cyprus's recent reports to the UN about Turkish violations of its airspace over the northern part of the island. In line with UN Security Council Resolution 550, the UK does not recognise the self-declared "Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus" as an independent state. The UK recognises only one Cypriot state – the Republic of Cyprus – and only one government as the sole legitimate government.
