Question to the Department for Levelling Up, Housing & Communities:

To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, what assessment he has made of the effectiveness of the Government’s policies on the replacement of homes sold under the right to buy.

There is a rolling 3 year deadline for local authorities to use the receipts from additional Right to Buy sales for new affordable housing and so far, they have delivered within sales profile. However, the Government is keen to understand if more can be done to encourage faster delivery of Right to Buy replacements. We have been engaging with local authorities to get their views, which will be fed into our assessment.
