The UK Government is investing record amounts in modernising this country’s rail infrastructure, including a £5.7bn investment in high-tech IEP trains. Responsibility for maintaining the safety of our railway operations lies with Network Rail and the Train Operating Companies, and they will assess the safety impact of any change on the network to ensure that this is delivered safely.
