Question to the Department for Work and Pensions:

To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, what estimate her Department has made of the cost of implementing the change of Support for Mortgage Interest from a benefit to a loan; and the ongoing administration of that loan.

The Department estimates that the total cost of implementing Support for Mortgage Interest loans will be £20.47m. The ongoing administrative costs are estimated to be £2.20m a year.
