Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health, what enhancement to pay rates officials of his Department receive for working on Saturdays and Sundays.

Departmental staff below the Senior Civil Service are eligible for enhanced pay rates if required to work additional hours on a Saturday or Sunday.

The rates of pay for staff working more hours than the normal conditioned requirements is calculated as follows:

Administrative Officer and Executive Officer – Saturday and Sunday at double time the hourly rate of pay.

Higher Executive Officer, Senior Executive Officer, Grade 7, Grade 6 and Fast Stream - Saturday at time and a half and Sunday at double time the hourly rate of pay.
