Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health, how many GPs closed their surgeries to new patients in each of the last six years for which figures are available.

The data requested on the number of general practitioner surgeries closed to new patients is presented in the table below. This data collection began in 2016/17 and is therefore not available prior to this. The next data collection will commence in April 2018 and will cover the whole of the 2017/18 period with the data expected to be published in summer 2018.
