Breast Cancer: Screening

Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what estimate his Department has made of the total number of women who did not have a routine breast cancer screening as a result of the covid-19 outbreak.

NHS Digital published statistics on breast cancer screening programme in England for 2020/21 on 24 February 2022. In total, 1.19 million women aged 45 years old and over were screened in 2020/21, compared with 2.12 million in 2019/20. This is a decrease of 44.1% or 930,000 women.
