Question to the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport:

To ask the Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, what steps she is taking to encourage greater diversity on charity trustee boards.

Last week the Charity Commission published ‘Taken on Trust’, a report based on a major research project into trusteeship. The Office for Civil Society worked in partnership with the Commission and sector stakeholders to make this research possible.

The findings have highlighted a lack of diversity amongst boards of trustees. The government would now like to see the sector take the lead in further exploring these issues and finding the right solutions.
