Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what steps he has taken following the publication of the Women’s Health Strategy on the digital transformation of screening programmes as referenced in page 93 of the Women’s Health Strategy.

NHS England has launched the Digital Transformation of Screening Programme in response to the recommendations of Professor Sir Mike Richards’ review of adult screening. A new cervical screening IT system is being prioritised and NHS England is developing a new Cervical Screening Management System (CSMS) to replace the existing call and recall system. The CSMS has been designed to support future programme changes, such as new ways of screening through self-sampling or other recommendations made by the UK National Screening Committee.
