Question to the HM Treasury:

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer, what assessment he has made of the effect on the hospitality industry and other sectors that do more business over the weekend of the RTI deadline for the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme being 23:59 on 30 October 2020 and not 23:59 on Saturday 31 October 2020.

The 30 October 2020 deadline was chosen because this date is the day before the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme extension was announced. Extending the cut-off date beyond 30 October 2020 would significantly increase the risk of abuse because claims could not be confidently verified using the data after this point.
