Question to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government:

To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, what is the total number of land titles bought in England and Wales prior to 1999 which belong to a company or entity based overseas.

Before 1999, HM Land Registry did not comprehensively record whether a property was acquired by an overseas entity. For that reason, my Department does not hold the information requested.
