Question to the HM Treasury:

To ask Mr Chancellor of the Exchequer, with reference to page 113 of the HM Revenue and Customs Annual Report and Accounts 2016-17, what assessment he has made of the level of compliance with tax legislation of stores and retailers which offer discounts to HM Revenue and Customs employees.

HMRC’s contractual relationship is with Edenred, the managed service provider for the Crown Commercial Services Employee Services framework. HMRC has no contractual relationship with the individual retailers and therefore no basis to conduct tax compliance assessments.
