The Chancellor and the Prime Minister have decided to conduct a one-year Spending Review in order to prioritise the response to Covid-19, and our focus on supporting jobs. Alongside this, the government continues to take its environmental responsibilities very seriously, and is committed to meeting its climate change targets.

The government is considering how it can most effectively progress transport decarbonisation, including on maritime, through the Spending Review.

In 2019, the Department for Transport published the Clean Maritime Plan, which identified the potential for clean economic growth in the UK as a result of the transition to zero emission shipping.
