The UK has been working constructively with other EU Member States on the implementation of the EU landing obligation, or discard ban. The discard ban is being phased in from 2015 to 2019, and the Government will continue to make sure that interests of UK fisheries and fleets are reflected in each new set of rules that are being introduced annually up until 1 January 2019.

The Government remains committed to ending the wasteful practice of discarding fish after we leave the EU.
