Question to the Department for Transport:

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, if he will recommend to train operators the removal of first class carriages or first class carriage restrictions from rush-hour commuter trains.

Any decision taken to place a requirement on a franchisee to remove first class accommodation from its trains would be made on a case-by-case basis.
