NHS England and NHS Digital do not hold data on the average number of hours spent on administrative tasks each week by general practitioners (GPs). NHS England is spending £45 million to train clerical staff to safely handle more paperwork without burdening the GP. Practices are already telling NHS England about the positive impact of this, with many saving nearly one hour per GP per day.
