Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, what reports he has received on the destruction of churches in Nagorno-Karabakh during the conflict in that region.

Although we have not received any reports of the destruction of churches in Nagorno-Karabakh during the recent conflict, the UK Government is clear that the preservation of religious and cultural sites in the region is an important issue. The British Embassy in Baku has raised this with the Azerbaijani government consistently and at senior level.
