Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:
To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, whether the Government has formally recognised that Daesh has committed genocide.
The UK Government believes that genocide should be a matter for judicial authorities to determine. However, this Government shares the House's condemnation of Daesh atrocities and led the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 2379 with the Government of Iraq to hold Daesh to account for their crimes.
