Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what assessment he has made of the risk to UK travellers of the covid-19 infection rate on Madeira compared to mainland Portugal.

Decisions to place countries on the ‘red’, ‘amber’ or ‘green’ lists are taken by Ministers informed by evidence, including the Joint Biosecurity Centre’s (JBC) risk assessments alongside other wider public health factors. As part of the risk assessments, the JBC monitors both Portugal and the Portuguese Islands, including Madeira.
