Police officers hold unique powers and positions of public trust. Allegations of sexual offences or abuse of a policing role for a sexual or intimate relationship should always be investigated by a statutory independent investigative body. Harriet's Law would safeguard victims, strengthen public confidence in policing, ensure accountability, improve transparency, reinforce the integrity of the criminal justice system, and encourage victims to come forward without fear of institutional bias.
