Hold a national referendum on introducing Digital ID

We believe Government plans for Digital ID represent the most radical change in our governance since universal suffrage. We want the Government to put this plan to the people via a referendum before proceeding with what we feel is a monumental shift in how we are governed.

If a new Digital ID system is implemented without full disclosure of what this will involve, we believe there will be no democratic mandate from the governed. We are anxious that this plan might lead to: mandatory digital identification, whether paper or phone-based; surveillance of citizens and recording data on behaviour, location, spending, social media etc; alongside a credit scoring system which could lead to exclusion or denied permissions to participate fully in normal society.
