Retain current ILR rules for dependants already living in the UK

Retain current ILR rules for dependants already in the UK. We believe the proposed 10 year waits and separate evaluations are unfair, risk family separation, and cause hardship. We think families who have lived here for years should progress together towards settlement.

Families who entered the UK lawfully under existing ILR rules have built their lives here in good faith. The proposed changes—separate evaluations and a 10 year wait for spouses and adult dependants—could apply retrospectively. We think this could cause family separation, emotional distress, and financial hardship. In our view, retaining current rules for those already resident protects fairness, family unity, and trust in the immigration system
