Some banks have introduced charges for depositing funds and withdrawing funds from charity accounts. Banks can use charity deposits to generate profits for their shareholders but many pay no interest to charities on their deposits. We think that in many cases the money that goes to fund these charges should be better used to support the vulnerable in our society and aid charities in providing services that cannot otherwise be supplied or afforded.
