Fund a full bursary and maintenance fund to train Learning Disability Nurses

At a time when the demand across health and social care is so high, numbers entering the LD nursing profession are too low. To halt this decline, support the profession with a full bursary and maintenance fund. Now is time for action.

Learning Disability Nursing has adapted over the years and LDNs have been instrumental in the shift to independent community living. LDNs now work in all areas of health and social care supporting individuals with disabilities to access specialist support. Unfortunately the numbers of universities offering the course and the numbers of students selecting the course has fallen to unsustainable levels. Historically many were mature students who now find it unaffordable.
