Railway workers play a vital role in the UK. We feel they are committed to their roles, demonstrating dedication, resilience, and professionalism in providing vital services that connect communities. However, incidents of violent crime against them have been on the rise, particularly over the last three years with 3,330 recorded assaults on rail staff in the past financial year, a rise of almost 25% in a year and double the 1,681 attacks recorded on rail staff three years ago.
